using QDR card on ethernet, DHCP fails due to mac address reporting all 0's

We are trying to use our QDR card with an ethernet switch. updated firmware to latest. But when they talk to DHCP the mac address is showing all 0's

THis is native ethernet rather than IPoIB.

Hopefully it is something obvious?
