the QSA module converts the QSFP port to a form factor that can accept either and SFP+ direct attached optic or the SFP optic (in case you want to go to 1GbE RJ-45 or Base SX)
If you want 10GE connectivity, the splitter cables are a more efficient approach as each port on the SX1012 can be split to 4x10GE. Using the QSA will result in one QSFP port being utilized and only one 10 or 1GE port being available in its place.
